It's worth experimenting with placing small shot on the tail as it really can improve things, an inch of adjustment often making a mile of difference and though I can't find a reference to anyone else ever using shot in this way when ledgering (but it can't possibly be new practice!) I think about it all the time when fishing with buoyant bread and constantly experiment to get the optimal set-up for the conditions
